Deb has been a member of the RIDGETOWN Skating Club since the age of 5 where her love for skating began. She was an Ontario Sectional competitor and a Gold test level skater. Her love for skating continued when she decided to become a Skate Canada Coach and give back to the club and community by teaching the sport she loved for three seasons. She then went onto a career in Recreation becoming the town of Ridgetown’s Director of Recreation while still participating in Adult Syncro Skating. Her full time career in Recreation Facilities for the past 34 years took up most of her time and she took a break from skating. She holds a diploma in Recreation Leadership from Fanshawe College and a degree in Public Administration for the University of Western Ontario.
When her two children, Addisyn and Zander decided to learn to skate, she once again jumped in to assist as a Volunteer Program Assistant and joining on the Board of Directors as past Co-President and current test chair and whatever is needed to ensure all have a chance to enjoy skating.
Deb is a National Coaching Provincial in training Skate Canada coach and has been coaching all ages from Pre-Can, special needs skaters to Adults at the Provincial level.
Deb feels it a privilege to work with skaters of all ages to teach them to skate and watch them grow and excel in the sport of skating. She also loves the relationships and sense of community that is built in small rural skating clubs and loves sharing her knowledge and love for the sport of skating with anyone who wants to learn !
She is taking students for private/group lessons and can be reached at Debvec74@gmail.com.
